Arthur Gore defeated Sydney Smith 6â4, 6â0, 6â3 in the All Comers' Final, and then defeated the reigning champion Reginald Doherty 4â6, 7â5, 6â4, 6â4 in the challenge round to win the gentlemen's singles tennis title at the 1901 Wimbledon Championships.[1][2]
